Research and Teaching |
Cross-sectoral Linkage Program |
A program of seed grants has been established
to stimulate inter-sectoral collaborative activity through a program
of Asia Pacific studies workshops, international and national
conferences that bring together academic, government and business
interests. This program also support preliminary research needed
to lay the foundations for large grants for such enterprises as
well as for collaborative, cross-sectoral programs of research. |
Institutional Linkage Program |
A program of seed grants has been established
to facilitate the establishment of research and teaching links
between the ANU, other Australian centres of Asia-Pacific expertise,
and renowned international centres of complementary expertise.
Such grants fund workshops, conferences, and preliminary research
needed to lay the foundations for the successful attraction of
large grants to support such enterprises. |
Regional Collaboration Program |
| A program of seed grants has
been established to bring scholars, practitioners, and representatives
of government, the media and NGOs from the Asia-Pacific region
to the ANU to participate in structured collaborations in research
and teaching. The program builds on academic capacity in universities
in Australia and the region, creates opportunities for new work
to be initiated and funded, and encourages the dissemination of
expert knowledge. |
Research Training and Education |
The Centre recognises the need for a steady
flow of new students into undergraduate and postgraduate courses
in Asia-Pacific studies in Australian universities to sustain
Australia’s pre-eminent status in Asia-Pacific studies.
The Centre plans to assist universities in exploring ways of linking
study of the region with vocational outcomes and promoting the
gaining of scholarships for graduates from poorer countries. |
Professional Association
Support |
| Under this program the Centre provides web and administrative
support for the Asian Studies Association of Australia and for
a new professional association of Pacific Studies scholars recently
catalysed by the Centre – the Australian Association for
the Advancement of Pacific Studies. The well-established ASAA
and new AAAPS are "non-sectarian" in that are the property
of no single Australian university. Supporting these associations
underlines the genuinely national character of the Centre.
